As The Leader Grows with Ken Joslin

Real Talk Kim | Get UNSTUCK!

Ken Joslin

Real Talk Kim, aka Kimberly Jones, joins us for an incredibly moving conversation just before her 56th birthday and the launch of her new book, "Unstuck." Imagine being at the lowest point in your life, working at Bloomingdale's after an 18-year marriage ended, only to rise as an acclaimed pastor and author. Kim's journey of faith, resilience, and sheer perseverance is bound to resonate deeply with those feeling trapped in tough circumstances. Her story is a testament to the power of unwavering belief and the transformative nature of redemption.

Throughout our discussion, we dive deep into the theme of redemption and how societal pressures, particularly those amplified by social media, can make us feel unworthy or irredeemable. Drawing inspiration from biblical figures like Rahab, David, Noah, and Jonah, Kim emphasizes that God’s love transcends our flaws and mistakes. We share personal anecdotes that highlight the necessity of facing our pain and scars to achieve true healing and fulfill our divine potential. Kim's life is a powerful reminder that God's love isn't contingent on our performance but on our identity as His creation.

We also explore the struggles of financial hardship, losing a business during a pandemic, and the mental battles against fear and doubt. Kim's insights into maintaining faith and finding strength amidst adversity are not only practical but deeply inspiring. Her new book, "Unstuck," offers a 90-day roadmap designed to help readers reclaim their lives and break free from generational curses with steadfast faith and determination. Listen in for a conversation that promises both empowerment and practical wisdom, encouraging you to make meaningful, lasting changes one day at a time.

Speaker 1:

Hey guys, welcome to another episode of as the Leader Grows. I am your host, Ken Jocelyn. We're going to give you a good dose of Georgia accent. Today I've got my friend, Real Talk Kim, who is about to drop her brand new book tomorrow called Unstuck, One day before my 56th birthday girl. Come on.

Speaker 2:

How are you doing Happy birthday, man? You're killing the 50s, you're killing it. Come on, girl, I'm so proud of you.

Speaker 1:

Well, hey, take a minute and tell our audience a little bit about so. We've got a lot of entrepreneurs that listen to this, some faith-based entrepreneurs, some just straight up entrepreneurs. Tell them a little bit about you and your journey. I'm fascinated just in the three or four minutes we spent off air. Well, I'm fascinated just in the three or four minutes we spent off air.

Speaker 2:

Well, hey everybody, I'm so excited to be here. I am known as Real Talk Kim. My name is Kimberly Jones and Real Talk Kim all over the internet. I was raised a preacher's kid, ken. All I knew was ministry and about 11 years ago my 18-year marriage ended and I was raised in a religion that if you get divorced you're going to hell on a slip and slide.

Speaker 2:

And I was the only one that ever been divorced and I thought my life was over and working at Bloomingdale's making $13 an hour special ed, my whole life. Still don't know where commas go. Don't know how. I've written six books that are killing it.

Speaker 1:

Before chat GPT yes, before that.

Speaker 2:

Before chat GPT yes, before yes, but God. And so here I am. Now I'll be 50. Your birthday is here tomorrow actually.

Speaker 1:

Day after tomorrow. Yeah, your book comes out tomorrow. My birthday's the next day.

Speaker 2:

Yep, and then my birthday will be August the 29th and I'll be 52. Come on, and at about 45, I started really finding me. I mean, god started blowing up my social media pages and millions of people just like this crazy, unfiltered preacher that was traveling all over the world. I took my dad and mom's church over four years ago. I thought I'd never be a great pastor, and here I am renting a car to drive from New York to get back to my service on Sunday. That's how dedicated I've become, just to pastor the greatest church, limitless Church, right here in Fayetteville, georgia. But, man, I am blown away. I was on my prayer call yesterday and I was just like. I just can't believe. And this is for every single person watching.

Speaker 2:

You may be in the beginning stages of your business. You may be starting your own book, leaving a legacy, whatever it is. Maybe you're walking through a divorce. Maybe you are finding your way after everything fell to hell and you're having your oh hell, no moment now where you're taking back your life. Man, I'm telling you something as long as you ain't dead, god ain't done, and somebody is waiting on your tea. That was to them. It's going to be a testimony to you. So I'm a girl man that just didn't give up. I can, I just. I just kept saying, god, as long as I've got a pulse, you got a plan and I'm going after it. So here I am, 52 years old, just dropping my brand new book.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, let's talk about. Let's talk about unstuck.

Speaker 2:

I mean, you got to get it. I love it.

Speaker 1:

Let's talk about unstuck. I mean, there's a lot of people right now the world is, it feels like it's upside down for for a lot of people and there and people feel stuck. Yeah, what tell me about the book? Tell me what was the thing that kind of said, okay, I need to write a book. I'm sure it came out of your story. Yeah, but talk about Unstuck.

Speaker 2:

Well, you know, my first book I ever wrote was I was working at Bloomingdale's and I had a video that went viral and I was like man, I was just turning 41. I was like man, I'm going to get to get out of Bloomingdale's. I'm going to write this book with my special ed self and it was called Beautifully Broken. And then my mother sat down and we self-published it and I remember, all of a sudden I realized the power of your story because, ken, it was like you know you, when you walk through a divorce or something, it's people trying to figure out which side they're going to be on. And you know, people listen to people that don't know anything about your story.

Speaker 2:

And I remember one night laying in my bed and I was like God, take this pain away. Because I was raised in church, you could shout that pain away. And I heard the Lord say I can't take it away. You got to get up and walk away from it. And, man, when I tell you that just dropped something in my spirit. And I was like man, I'm about to write a book and I don't know if anybody's going to read it, but, buddy, like 30,000 people went and bought that book and Went and bought that book and I heard the Lord say this is what happens when you let me fight your battles when you shut your mouth, you get your heart right.

Speaker 2:

I will vindicate you I will. 30,000 people. I remember all of a sudden Ken. I was like mother, look all the haters are buying my book and my mama said girl, they're buying your book to see if they're in it.

Speaker 2:

But, God is using them to fund your ministry. And so I began to write books. I just started popping out all these books at 42. I wrote my first book at 44. I wrote my second book, beautifully Whole. Then I signed with Charisma for two books when your Bad Meets Is Good, and I can't remember the other one. And then I signed with HarperCollins for these two new books. And these books are about helping you realize that you're not stuck because you're not a tree. Every single book I write is for people that don't like to finish books but are ready to grow, and I captivate you. The latest one is a devotion where you give me one day of your time, one page a day, for 90 days, and you will not be stuck after those 90 days.

Speaker 1:

I love that. You mentioned it just a minute ago about getting stuck and seeing things different. It's crazy. I literally this morning on my collective, my coaching call, my Zoom call, I've got entrepreneurs around the country. I went into numbers 13 today about the 12 spies, yeah, and 10 of them. 10 of them are like nope, not only are they giants and we're grasshoppers, but they think that we're grasshoppers. And I just talked about because we lose sight sometimes, kim about what God's put in our heart. God said you go, take the land, I'm going to give it to you, I love. There's a verse in there that says it was so fruitful that they carried a cluster of grapes on a pole between two men, like it was. It was so amazing. But yet because the giants that stood in the way, the guys were like nope, we're grasshoppers. There's no way we can do this. Talk about that. That faith journey for you being in ministry, doing what you did, walking through a divorce and then going. I mean that's a huge giant to stand in your way.

Speaker 2:

Especially when the Bible says that the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. It doesn't say he does it. It doesn't say that the enemies won't form. It is in the seasons that you find yourself feeling like this time's going to be good, this time I'm going under.

Speaker 1:

Preach girl.

Speaker 2:

I'm in my 50s now. The best is behind me and you realize that I am not stuck because I'm not a tree. I'm stuck because I'm listening to the voices that are only connected to my past and you begin to say kiss my past, I'm moving forward.

Speaker 2:

I think it is getting the right voices. That's why God has created a kin. That's why God has created social media, that right now, if you're not careful, it will be causing you to feel like the world is going to hell in a handbasket. But if you keep reading your Bible, it says in the back of the book, we win. It's standing firm on God. What is the voices in my life that are going to help me go to my destiny? What are the voices? Start finding it.

Speaker 2:

Stop listening to music all the time and turn on some podcasts like Ken's. Turn on my podcast, real Talk, kim. Start invading your thoughts with God thoughts God promises and realize that you're human. You're going to go through things. The Bible says the rain falls on the just and the unjust, but you're going to take those that mess and allow God to turn it to your message. You're going to turn your scars into stars. You're going to let that pain become your pulpit and you're not going to be scared to talk about what you've gone through, because God trusted you in that pain. God trusted you with those bad choices, even if you caused the divorce, even if you messed up in that divorce, even if you are the reason why you've been married five times and you like the woman at the well, you've got to realize that before you were ever even a thought in your mother's womb that God knew that Ken and Kim were going to be there.

Speaker 2:

God knew that you were going to be facing what you're facing and he's saying I'm going to let your plans wreck because I need you to hit rock bottom and find out who the rock is at the bottom, which is me, so that when you come up out of this thing you're going to have free Holy Ghost life college. That is going to literally shift atmospheres. Millions of people are waiting on you to get up and get unstuck.

Speaker 1:

Kim, what do you think is the main reason?

Speaker 1:

I love how you said that, because you know we don't usually address people who are the cause of the of the problem we usually address hey, if somebody has done you wrong, jesus wants to help you, jesus wants to take care of you.

Speaker 1:

I tell you, erwin McManus gave one of the best talks in my conference. That blew my mind. He said we have equated the gospel in the Western church, the gospel, with being easy. We have equated the gospel in the Western church, the gospel, with being easy. He said the gospel is anything but easy and just, absolutely, for about 40 minutes just had everybody on the edge of their chair. Why do you think that when we speak because I love how you just spoke you spoke hey, listen, if you were the problem, if you were the issue, if you were the reason that it happened, why don't you? Why do you? Why don't you think more people speak to that audience and why the people that may have been the issue, why they don't feel accepted by the church or hey, we just have a desire for you to become the best version of yourself.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you know, because I think that I always say this Thieves don't rob empty vaults Like there's something inside of all of us that wants to be loved, accepted and valued, and that stupid little pride starts creeping in. I think I finally got it whenever I realized that I had to move back in with my mother and my father at 36, lost everything, couldn't buy cheese with my credit, and everybody that I felt did me wrong was moving on, and I remember realizing ain't nobody coming to get me up? Like I, even if I didn't cause the divorce, I still chose that person Right, and so I think that we don't want to face us.

Speaker 2:

We want to pray for them to change, but we don't want to pray. God, let me change Like it's been the greatest gift.

Speaker 1:

Why do you think people don't pray that? What is your perspective on that?

Speaker 2:

Because I think that we're afraid that if we pray, god, change me then he's going to remove that toxic relationship that we're so codependent on. We're afraid we have, in our heads, because of religion, have thought that God is a mean God, because of the way that pastor represented God, or the way your deacon dad went to church every Sunday and got down on his knees and worshiped and everybody thought he was a saint but at home he was abusing y'all. And we equate that. And so we don't pray because, one, we're afraid he's a mean God. Two, we're afraid we don't deserve to speak to God because of the way the church just threw us out when we were in sin. But God doesn't see us by our sin.

Speaker 2:

He calls us redeemed, and so I think we don't want to acknowledge that because we're afraid of the truth. We're afraid that now it's too late. Ken, now I'm 52 years old and here I am. My 40-year marriage has ended and I got to start all over and I'm too old we're never too old.

Speaker 2:

Most of the people that God used in the Bible that we're still studying about, they were Rahab the harlot. They were David, the man after my own heart that slept with Bathsheba, got her pregnant and was still called the man after God's own heart. It was Noah that built this ark when he was getting all the HOAs saying you're going to get fined if you don't quit building this ark. And he built it anyway. And then he went and got drunk and danced naked. It's Noah, it was Jonah that was told to go to Nineveh and he was like let them die, let them die. And God said send the big fish to Jonah, because I'm going to need him to have transportation back where I told him to be.

Speaker 2:

God is in the redemption business, but because of religion, because we were done dirty, because of fear of it's too late and we're too naughty, we're too bad that God can't use us, because we're afraid of what, especially with social media? They will advertise everything you did wrong. They can't wait to take their love away from you and cancel you. This is why God is calling all of us, ken, to get into position, because we are Jesus with hands and feet. Oh, you're dirty. It's never too dirty for God, and so I think that's why we do it.

Speaker 1:

Ken, I love that. I used to say every Sunday when I pastored God's love for you is predicated on your performance. He loves you because he created you as a son or a daughter. Like when you come to my create conference in Atlanta, I have four stickers all over the building with my quotes and those are the two that are in the lobby when people register. And it's like I said this one Sunday. I said can you imagine? I brought my daughter up on stage. She was probably at the time, she's 15. That's probably four or five. I brought her up on stage, stage.

Speaker 1:

I said how many of you guys put pictures of your kids on the front of your refrigerator? Or when they do something or they got a report card, you put it on the front of the refrigerator. You see it, it's refrigerators are covered. Come on Now, how many of you guys, when you've got guests coming over and your kid's done something wrong like right on the wall with a Sharpie marker, or said something to her sister you're embarrassed of your kid and you slide that picture around the side of the refrigerator so your friends don't see it? Nobody does that. No, why do we think that God does that to us? He doesn't.

Speaker 2:

He doesn't. In fact, he loves you so much that he's like. I trusted you with this mess. I trusted you because I knew that you were the black sheep of the family and I knew that at 52 years old you were going to turn into the goat. I knew it. I knew that at 52 years old, you were going to turn into the goat. I knew it. I knew that you weren't going to throw in the towel. That's the kind of God he is. But we'll sit and lay in our mess and go to therapy for 48 years determined to never let it go and God is over here saying it's free life, college, you ain't got to pay one student loan back.

Speaker 2:

All you got to do is get your confidence back. All you got to do is begin to speak the promises of God over your life. He says you are fearfully and wonderfully made, with all your dirt, with all your scars. He says I am ready. All I need you to do is say yes. All I need you to do is get up and do something different.

Speaker 1:

When you're laying there, you're divorced, you feel like your life's crashed and God said just walk away from it. What happened on the inside of you at that moment?

Speaker 2:

Man, ken. I remember laying in my bed man, it was my mama's was my healing place and I remember the joints in my fingers were aching and I was like God, you're really not going to heal this. Like I got two little boys downstairs that need their mama and me and him were worship pastors. So we had been in some of the biggest churches in America as worship pastors and we were known as Ken and Barbie and had two gorgeous little boys. And here we are going through a divorce and I'm stuck and I had them joints in my fingers aching because I was heartbroken and I was like God, you ain't gonna heal this. He's like no, I'm not healing this. There was nothing good. It played its part and you never asked me one time if that was your spouse, but you wanted me to bless your mess.

Speaker 2:

And it was getting up every day, going to work every day, putting makeup up on people when I still don't know how to do makeup. I don't even know how I got that job for five years but realized, ken, if it wouldn't have been for my mouth telling this man for 18 years, I don't need no man. I woke up one day and didn't have one, if it wouldn't have been those actions of my brokenness.

Speaker 2:

I was bleeding on people that didn't cut me then I would have never been at Bloomingdale's, I would have never learned to love people, I would never be all over the world right now on lives, every morning at 8 am talking to people that feel stuck. I would be a put Canta with an umbrella in my drink, not doing anything God had called me to do, but because I decided to cry myself into a place of healing. See, nobody tells you about the pain of healing, of getting to the inner courts of yourself and saying it happened. It stinks and the pain may not be my fault, but the healing is my responsibility and face that I wouldn't be doing it and every person watching this can.

Speaker 2:

You wouldn't be doing masterminds. You wouldn't have been running one of the biggest youth ministries in the entire world. You wouldn't have been able to recover after your divorce. Your daughters wouldn't be healthy. But it was because God knew when you came out of your mama in August 56 years ago. He knew when the doctors heard wow, hell heard, purpose, destiny, a game changer, a man, that when he opens his mouth he don't even have to have all the degrees. His anointing from the crushing is going to set people free. This is a real one and that's what God does for all of us, but some people never walk in it because, they're so afraid of what they think about them instead of what he knows about them.

Speaker 1:

That's so good. That's funny. I hopped on my call this morning. I had I mean I'm in day 52 of our next 60 goals we set 52 days ago.

Speaker 1:

Faith health relationship, business finances, my health goals, keto, no alcohol, all my peptide therapy I'm down another 20 plus. I've lost 100 pounds in four years. I feel like a million bucks. Between Friday and last night, I get two text messages $81,000 walks out the door and I'm laying there.

Speaker 1:

Last night at nine, something that was a 56K and I'm like, oh, holy cow, what do I do? How am I going to handle this? And I just I literally leaned into and said, okay, god, this has happened before. Yes, you know what's going on. Are you trying to redirect me? What are you doing? Yes, what know what's going on. Are you trying to redirect me? What are you doing? Yes, what do you do when you get hit? Because, listen, I don't care how good, and I've been in 50 some odd days of freaking, crushing it Up at 4 am at the gym, I feel I literally I just told my group this morning I put this t-shirt on, or one of these. I got about a million Lululemon black t-shirts, a pair of jeans and actually tucked my shirt in my jeans and went to Buckhead to have coffee with a friend and was like, dang, I can see my, I can see my Burberry belt buckle today, like I was like, yeah, and then all of a sudden out of nowhere it's like bam.

Speaker 1:

Life just punches you, throws you a left hook. How do you handle those moments, when those happen, kim?

Speaker 2:

You know I do exactly what you did. I remember I've been there before and I made it before and I know this without a fact. And Ken, so do you that right before your greatest breakthrough, the enemy is going to hit you where it hurts and you have got to not move. The Bible says in Psalms 46 and 10, be still and know that I'm God. He says in Romans 8, 28, I am working all things. He didn't say some things. He said all things, even that $56,000 walking out of your life, even that red slip. You just got at work saying you thought you were getting a promotion, but instead you're getting fired.

Speaker 2:

He said you keep staying focused on what's working. Stop looking at what ain't working, stop looking at what walked out and begin to realize that when one door closes, I open a bigger one. See, a lot of times the reason people have to leave is because they were drilling holes with one hand and rowing with the other. And God said I got to expose some things in your life because they can't go where you're going. Their character can't keep up with your purpose. This goes in marriages. This goes in business partners, this goes with friends. This goes with everything in life. When it doesn't work, stop giving CPR to dead situations and look forward because there is another door?

Speaker 1:

How do you know when you're giving CPR to dead situations? Oh my God, what are some of the things people can look for? Because, you know, especially with faith, we're like okay, god, you're going to keep doing this, okay, god, you're going to bring this. How do you know, like? How do you know when you're like okay, the season's done, I've got to create boundaries. I've got to create boundaries, I've got to walk away from a situation or relationship or something like that?

Speaker 2:

Man, it's work.

Speaker 1:

It's chaos.

Speaker 2:

It's confusion. You're begging someone. You are a flawless creation made in the image of God, judas. If Jesus can sit at a table with the man that is about to put him on the cross and never tell his disciples this dude is a phony, then so can we, and we can stay focused and realize that every single door that's closing faith is not faith without movement. You got to put feet to your faith. You're going to have those thoughts because we're human. We're going to be like holy cow.

Speaker 2:

That was $80,000. That was, oh my gosh. It's easy to look at. I got these bills. I got this company a pandemic hit. I've lost it. It's easy to look at. I got these bills. I got this company Pandemic hit. I've lost it. It's easy. The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy. He does it right here. When you find yourself at a place that you are freaking out, that's when you have to renew your mind and say I will not fear, even when you're scared to death, I will not fear Over and over. Start pumping some word in you. Start getting you some podcasts with somebody that can jack you up in the spirit. Come on girl.

Speaker 2:

And don't allow yourself to live in the wilderness. Don't become like the children of Israel. Don't let an 11-day journey or two people walking out you will. You mark my word, Ken. You will get $140,000 return, because God never ends in a deficit, ever. He's not going to wreck his reputation.

Speaker 1:

You know it's crazy. I picked the phone up last night when that happened. I'm laying in the bed. You know you had that moment where you're just like your gut's, just kind of like Last night when that happened. I'm laying in the bed.

Speaker 1:

I'm like you know, you had that moment where you're just like your guts, just kind of like, and I text my buddy, troy, and I said hey, dude, not trying to sound whiny, not trying to sound needy, here's what's happened. And his text back to me was pricey. He goes okay, where are you going to go find that $81,000 at? That's me too. And so we taxed for about 30 or 40 minutes. We got done. I was like okay, bro, thank you, because now I can go to sleep.

Speaker 1:

It just kind of that was his, that was his thing.

Speaker 2:

He was like okay, the enemy wants you to worry about it so you can't have ammunition to move. He wants you to get in your feelings. There's no money in your feelings. I lay hands on myself every day.

Speaker 1:

So good Every day.

Speaker 2:

I lay hands on myself and I said God, don't let me be sidetracked by yesterday. Whatever walks out of my life was supposed to walk out, because anything that's supposed to stay cannot leave Wow.

Speaker 2:

I do it every day. You got to start praying elementary prayers y'all. You got to just lay hands on yourself and say God, don't let me be moved, let me be like a palm tree. When the storms come, I may be bent all the way over and it may look like I'm going under, but I'm coming back stronger. I think a lot of times, ken, it's our ego, I think it's. Oh, we're going to look like a failure, oh, they're going to go talk about us and say so we want to fix it.

Speaker 2:

Sometimes you just got to get your heart right and realize that your character will outlive all their lies.

Speaker 1:

Love that. I love that. So, tomorrow, your new book. What are you excited about? Like what's in you, kim, right now? Like, how's your spirit tomorrow? What's like the maybe the one or two things you're super excited about this book dropping tomorrow?

Speaker 2:

You know what, ken? I'm so excited, I'm so proud of me.

Speaker 2:

I'm proud of you, girl. I'm so proud I didn't quit. I'm so proud that a lot of the church world wrote me off. I've been divorced more than once. A lot of people don't think I'm qualified to be here because I don't know where commas go. I'm so proud that I didn't allow the cancel culture to cause me to stay stuck. I'm so proud that when I wrote this book Unstuck, it was because God put something in me that said take what you did to get back up again and help hundreds and thousands of people get back up again. I'm so proud of my yes.

Speaker 2:

I'm so proud that some people that have been stuck in their 60s and 70s are going to realize, man, if God did it for her, I'm just getting started. I'm just getting started. I'm going from the black sheep. Yeah, I did everything they said I did. Yeah, I'm like Apostle Paul, I did it. But here I am allowing my snake bite to become the healing out of my voice. That's right in these books. So I'm excited about the people that are going to find their purpose again. I'm excited about the people that are going to go balls to the wall.

Speaker 1:

Come on girl, come on, I love it.

Speaker 2:

I'm excited that people are going to get up and take their life back and be the generational curse breaker, the wealth builder. There's nobody in my family that was ever ever even thought of millions. And here I am, in multi-millions. I'm doing it over here because of my yes, because I kept my heart right, because I'm so humbled and so thankful and this anointing on my life is helping others get up, yeah, so I'm excited for people to read this book.

Speaker 1:

I love what you said. You talked about yes. We always normally, when you talk to entrepreneurs, it's like you make sure you know how to say no, but I love how you said I said yes, and then your humility. Your humility came at a price. It came. It came from a breaking. One of my five affirmations that I write down every single day is I am whole. I choose to use past pain to help others find healing. Talk about that breaking and when you finally got to a place in your relationship with Jesus where you were like, wow, this really isn't about me, this really is about him.

Speaker 2:

You know, ken, I probably. It wasn't until a year and a half ago. You know, thanks to TimeHop on Facebook, if you don't realize that you've grown, all you got to do is go look at that. I mean, I was by Felicia, you know, I was.

Speaker 2:

I was rough and I look back now and I'm like come on, felicia, come with me, come with me. You know it's realizing that, man, I am being used by God. Even if you got to start by just pushing that live you people on here, just pushing the live button on your social media pages. Sometimes you got to unfollow people in real life. Sometimes you got to realize that I love this person. They've been in my life since kindergarten but they're not good for my spirit in this season.

Speaker 2:

So I got to move you from the VIP section up to the balcony. I love you, but you got to go up there because this season's personal for me. This season's. I'm fighting for my spirit, because I would rather pull thousands of people out of their hell hole from my story than you over here praying for me and telling my business in the prayer little circle at your church. I don't care, do what you got to do, use it. Them haters are confused fans.

Speaker 2:

It's flipping the flow and it's realizing instead of going to the negativity, you're going to the positive. You're realizing that fear is false evidence appearing real. It's getting up every day pulling your big old, thick thigh and saying I don't know where I'm going, but God, you're a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path and I'm going to push this live and I'm going to get on and tell a little bit of my story every day. I'm going to go to KDP on Amazon and upload this book that's been in my spirit and sitting in the drawer. I'm going to dust it off and I'm going to write a self-published book. I'm going to do something. I'm going to say yes in the next five months of this year. I'm going to give the devil a black eye. You should have taken me out when you could have, because I'm getting up and doing something for the legacy of my family, for my grandchildren, for my great-grandchildren. I'm going to get married again. I'm going to get my mouth under control. I'm going to become his escape and not his duty.

Speaker 2:

It's flipping the flow, baby. It's realizing that the enemy wants to shut you up, but he can't. He can't. He's quarantined in hell with all his little imps. The only reason you quit is because you quit. The only reason you're in the position you're in is because you are in that position. You stop moving and it's getting back up again today and saying you know what? I don't know where I'm going, but I've experienced failure and failure don't hurt so bad. Failure is a chance to start all over again.

Speaker 2:

It's not final either it ain't final.

Speaker 1:

It's not final.

Speaker 2:

It just shows you had the courage, Ken, to get back up again.

Speaker 1:

Doesn't it? Doesn't it, kim? Doesn't it take you to a deeper understanding of how much Jesus really does love you and allows you to develop such an empathy for people? I mean cause it's like. It's like man, it's like, and it's like. When you said that I, when you said the word humility, I just could see in my heart the crushing you had to go through to get to that point, which is why I know you're excited about this book coming out tomorrow.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm stoked.

Speaker 1:

Because, man, when you get to a point, to where you're either going to fall on the rock and get crushed or the rock's going to fall on you and get crushed, you're like man, god, I'm at a point and you said it. You were like man just in the last year and a half. I'm at a, I'm at a point and you said it. You were like man just in the last year and a half. Like when you get, when you get to that point, my goodness, god's like okay, now I can finally use you. You think you got used. You think I use you to impact and influence people for the good, to help them want to become the best version of themselves. You wait to see what I can do through you now.

Speaker 2:

And he does it, ken, he does it, and he does it in such a way that you don't even realize that you were ever stuck. Like you don't even remember. He's such a good, good father.

Speaker 1:

Yes, he is.

Speaker 2:

You don't even remember. You start telling your story differently. You don't throw your eggs under the bus, no more. You're not over here talking about the pain anymore. Now you're talking about the recovery. Now you're talking about the redemption. Now you're talking about the blessing. He retrains your brain and your heart and your mouth.

Speaker 1:

Yes, he does.

Speaker 2:

And every time you open your mouth, you're setting people free and don't even know it.

Speaker 1:

That's right Power, life and death, Because you're just doing what you were called to do. Yeah, Because you're just doing what you were called to do. Yeah, power, life and death. What are you grateful for today? What's something that people wouldn't guess that you're grateful for today?

Speaker 2:

Man, I'm grateful for life. I got married two months ago to the love of my life. After a few failures, I can't even believe it. I can't even believe that I get to have a spend-the-night party with my best friend every night. I actually like him.

Speaker 2:

No, I can't. I'm so thankful that my two sons that should have been a statistic with all my crazy choices now work with me in ministry full time at Limitless Church. I'm so thankful that God trusts me. A girl that was in special ed still don't know where commas go to write books and mentor people and masterminds and billionaires that I get to give spiritual wisdom to. I'm so thankful that I don't got to check my checking account every day.

Speaker 1:

Come on girl.

Speaker 2:

Because there's lots of zeros, I'm just so thankful. I'm just so thankful for life, for health. There's so much, I'm thankful for. Is everything perfect? No, and there's days that you don't want to get up out of that bed. But there's days you realize grateful, grateful, grateful, grateful, grateful man, there's so much more to be thankful for. If you ain't where you want to be, thank God you ain't where you used to be.

Speaker 1:

Ain't that the truth? And if you're, at rock bottom.

Speaker 2:

You're at the bottom and you're starting over in your 50, 60, 70, all you got to do is flip over, because the only way up is flipping over and getting your old leg up and moving. Come on, girl, it's just waiting on you.
